Sideways Hats

• this hat is quick to knit and requires no hand finishing; it has a shaped crown and a rolled hem

• the pattern gives instructions for both the standard and mid-gauge machines

• samples were knit in 3 colours of Yeoman Cashmilon 4-ply acrylic for a total 36 g each on a standard gauge machine and in Paton's Astra acrylic for a total 49g each on a LK150 mid-gauge machine

• sample gauges: 7 sts x 11 R on a standard and 4.8 sts x 7.6 R on a mid-gauge

• finished size: 48cm/19" wide x 18cm/7" high on a standard and 51 cm/20" x 19 cm/7.5" on a mid-gauge
• to alter the sizes, add or subtract a full wedge and/or alter the stitches on the hem side
